KiNG: New Danish series on TV2 Play

This weekend, TV 2 was supposed to have premiered the new Danish TV series 'King' on TV 2 Play. I was at the preview in Imperial, but many lovely people, some of whom I know personally :-)

It lands on TV 2 Play this weekend, and the trailer below gives an insight into what we can expect with high-tension action from the four episodes.

The series is about 18-year-old Yasin, who dreams of becoming something big. But he is drawn into dangerous subcultures and suddenly finds himself in a place where the boundaries between right and wrong have dissolved.

'King's' main roles are played by new names, but also offers sensational supporting performances from musicians Benny Jamz, Jamaika and Sandra Hussein. The former burst onto the scene together with Sivandi in Fenar Ahmad's debut film 'Ækte vare' from 2014.

In addition to directing the series, Ali Sivandi himself stars in 'King', but he has also brought talented names in the form of Josephine Højbjerg, Ali Kazim, Arash Mosaddegh, Vicki Berlin and Oscar Bjerrehuus on board the project.

The series is written by Bashar El-Zouheiri, who was also a co-writer on 'Familier i Norden' earlier this autumn.

The series is produced outside the established industry with private funds, and TV 2 only became involved when King was finished production.

According to the producer, the series does not want to glorify crime, but to show the consequences for both the young people and their surroundings.

Last night there was a gala premiere of the youth series King at the Imperial cinema in Copenhagen. The producer has lured the press in advance with a nice guest list with actors from the series such as Vicki Berlin and Josephine Højbjerg as well as the rapper Jamaika.
