Ahsoka in the Cinema at Copenhagen

Ahsoka is a live-action Star Wars series created by Dave Filoni for Disney+. The series stars Rosario Dawson as Ahsoka Tano, a former Jedi Padawan who is on a quest to find Grand Admiral Thrawn and bring him to justice. The series also stars Natasha Liu Bordizzo as Sabine Wren, a Mandalorian warrior who joins Ahsoka on her quest.

The first two episodes of Ahsoka premiered on August 23, 2023. The series has received positive reviews from critics, with praise for the performances of Dawson and Bordizzo, the action sequences, and the visual effects.

Here are some of the things that I liked about Ahsoka:

  • Rosario Dawson is excellent as Ahsoka Tano. She brings a lot of depth and complexity to the character, and she makes Ahsoka feel like a real person.
  • Natasha Liu Bordizzo is also great as Sabine Wren. She is a lot of fun to watch, and she has great chemistry with Dawson.
  • The action sequences are well-choreographed and exciting.
  • The visual effects are top-notch.
  • The series is a visual feast, with stunning cinematography and set design.
  • The story is intriguing and full of potential.

Overall, I really enjoyed the first two episodes of Ahsoka. It is a visually stunning series with great action sequences and performances. I am excited to see where the series goes next.

Here are some of the things that I didn't like about Ahsoka:

  • The series can be a bit slow at times.
  • The plot is a bit convoluted.
  • The series could be frustrating for people who are not familiar with the Star Wars universe.

Overall, I think Ahsoka is a good series that is worth watching. It is not perfect, but it has a lot to offer fans of Star Wars. I would recommend it to anyone who is a fan of the character Ahsoka Tano or the Star Wars universe in general.

This trio—Ahsoka, Sabine, and Hera—will be front and center in Season 1, which is about “a Jedi, a warrior, and a general”.

The plot

Who doesn’t love a good map? In the early episodes of Ahsoka, the plot hinges on the quest to find a secret star map that can reveal the location of exiled Imperial villain Grand Admiral Thrawn (and maybe also rebel hero Ezra Bridger). But by the end of the Star Wars show’s two-episode premiere, the villains have moved on to something even bigger: the Eye of Sion.

But what exactly is the Eye of Sion? The answer may lie in one of the best non-canonical entries in Star Wars history.

* * * Warning! Spoilers ahead for Ahsoka Episodes 1 and 2. * * *

In Ahsoka Episode 2, Thrawn devotee Morgan Elsbeth tasks her henchmen with stealing a massive hyperdrive from a New Republic shipyard. We later see the drive inserted into a massive floating space structure that looks a bit like a giant ring. Or perhaps some sort of portal?

It seems safe to assume that the portal will connect their current location to Thrawn’s new address, as revealed by the star map. After that? Who knows. But is it possible that the name Eye of Sion could reveal a few clues?

Ahsoka Episode release time

Sources say, the release date of Ahsoka Episode 3 will be Tuesday, August 29 about 9 pm EST about 15 oclock Centran European time (Copenhagen time :-) ) and there are 8 episodes in Ahsoka.

Whos is Ahsoka

Ahsoka Tano has a long and varied history in the Star Wars saga. She’s been around for almost a decade, having been introduced in the animated Clone Wars movie. She grew up before our eyes in the seven-season Clone Wars series that followed, and in Rebels, she really came into her own. The same could be said for all the characters she encountered along the way.

As Ahsoka continues her journey in live-action, she’s brought the cast of Rebels with her. Ahsoka will follow the title ex-Jedi, as well as Sabine Wren, Hera Syndulla, and Ezra Bridger, on a mission to defeat the fallen Empire’s last Grand Admiral. Much of this is carrying over from Rebels, which leaves fans with a question leading up to Ahsoka’s two-episode premiere. How much of Rebels should casual fans watch to get up to speed?

By the way, you don't need to watch Rebels before Ahsoka :-)
This might come as a surprise, but Rebels novices won’t need to do much homework ahead of Ahsoka. Sure, many of the characters appearing in the new series are from Rebels — including Grand Admiral Thrawn, the overarching villain in both — and understanding where they come from may help you appreciate them more. But it’s not necessary.

When does Ahsoka take place in the Star Wars timing

Ahsoka takes place after a pretty significant time jump. Like The Mandalorian, the series is set in 9 ABY (After the Battle of Yavin), about six years after the fall of the Empire. Rebels ended in 0 BBY, just before the events of A New Hope. That means Sabine, Hera, Ezra, and Thrawn haven’t been seen in roughly 10 years. A lot’s changed in that time, so Ahsoka is essentially introducing these characters anew.

If there is a show to watch before Ahsoka hits Disney+, it’s actually an episode of The Mandalorian, “The Jedi.” It marked Ahsoka’s live-action debut, and introduced a major villain who’ll return in the new series, Morgan Elsbeth. Then known just as The Magistrate, Elsbeth is the one person who seems to know how to locate Thrawn. Ahsoka encounters her on the planet Corvus, and their duel sets the tone for the long battle ahead.

Ahsoka will likely pick up right where “The Jedi” left off. Though the threat Thrawn presents to the galaxy may feel like a mystery, that’s part of the series’ appeal. Ahsoka is taking its time introducing the saga’s next Big Bad, but we’ll likely get a much clearer picture of him as the series goes on. We’ll also get to know the Rebels characters, and who they’ve become in the aftermath of the Empire’s defeat. It’s all about the journey, and Ahsoka has eight episodes to lay it out for old fans and new ones.

Lucasfilm’s latest Disney+ series, Ahsoka, occupies an interesting place in Star Wars history. Like The Mandalorian, it takes place shortly after the events of the original trilogy, which covered the conflict between the Galactic Empire and the Rebel Alliance.
